The Planetary Age

Understanding the great systemic transition of our era

PDF sheet :↓ FR↓ EN

Leaders today deal with climate, energy, AI, geopolitics, supply chains and social cohesion as separate challenges. They are all expressions of one underlying shift: humanity has entered the planetary age, and no inherited framework was built for it.

This keynote does what no briefing, report or panel can do. In a single arc, it makes the full picture visible. It gives leaders a coherent reading of the forces reshaping their operating environment, and the concepts to respond at the right scale.

Audiences leave with clarity about where we are, why the old maps no longer work, and what it takes to lead in this new condition.

Humanity has become planetary. 8.3 billion humans, seven of nine planetary boundaries crossed, the Doomsday Clock at 85 seconds to midnight, and no meaningful "outside" left where humanity can export its contradictions. Every system on Earth is now connected to every other, at a speed no institution was designed for. The concepts, frameworks and narratives were not built for this world.

Behind these turbulences, something has been missed. This kind of shift has happened twice before in evolutionary history. Isolated cells cooperated and became multicellular beings, producing a level of organization none of them could have achieved alone. Then life itself became planetary: nine million species wove themselves into the Biosphere, a self-regulating system that has been maintaining temperature, chemistry and cycles for 3.8 billion years. Each time, the leap in complexity happened during a period of turbulence.

Humanity stands at such a threshold. It can become truly planetary and move into a new stage of organization that protects all humans and serves the living system we inhabit. Instead of becoming a cancer, humanity can become a new organ of the Biosphere, Homo biospheris.

Drawing on Earth science, evolutionary biology, energy systems and geopolitics, Jean-Pierre Goux builds a diagnosis of the age we have entered, describes the dangers it carries, and provides organizations the concepts needed to accelerate the metamorphosis toward Homo biospheris.

  • A complete diagnosis of the planetary age: the forces, pressures, risks and structural features that define the condition we now operate in
  • A coherent reading of what connects climate, energy, AI, geopolitics and the crisis of governance, when most analyses treat them in silos
  • The Biosphere as the missing foundation: the living planetary system inside which all strategy, economics and business models must ultimately be rethought
  • Working concepts: Homo biospheris, biospheric economy and the Blue Revolution as tools to decode the age and reframe strategy
  • A shift in perspective that changes how leaders see their organization's role in the age itself
  • Clarity and energy: audiences leave knowing what is at stake and seeing what becomes possible

30 to 90 minutes, depending on your needs and context.

Executive committees, boards, leadership offsites, all-company events, industry summits, public institutions, academic gatherings, organizations navigating strategic uncertainty and seeking a deeper understanding of the age they operate in. From 20 to several thousand people.
